The Indian Women’s Hockey Team have organised and participated in an 18-day fitness challenge in order to raise money to combat the COVID-19 epidemic. The challenge, which ended on the 3rd of May, managed to raise Rs 20,01,130 – all of which has been donated to the Uday Foundation, a NGO based in Delhi.
Each of the team members came up with different fitness tasks, including burpees, squats, lunges, push-ups and even pogo hops – to name a few. They uploaded a new challenge daily to their social media handles, tagging 10 people to participate and encouraging them to donate Rs 100 to the fundraiser.
The money they have raised will go towards providing basic necessities for COVID-19 patients across the country, as well as migrant workers and people living in slums.
India Hockey Team Captain Rani Rampal said, “The response we have received was really overwhelming. People, especially Indian hockey lovers from across the globe took part in the challenge and contributed to the cause.”
“On behalf of the Indian Women Team, I would like to thank everyone who took part in this initiative to help the poor”.
